Hawaii is a state, a part of the United States of America. It is primarily a group of 137 islands spread over an estimated area of 1500 miles on the Pacific Ocean. The location it bears helps it to maintain a tropical climate almost all year round.
Hawaii is the embodiment of the tropical climate and the perks it brings with it. Beautiful beaches and moderate temperatures are a few of the Hawaiian perks. But like every other place, it has its downsides too.

Advantages of living in Hawaii:

Extreme heat and extreme cold are going to be an alien concept to anyone living in Hawaii. Hawaii is home to 11 of the 13 sub-climates. Therefore, it harbors the weather one wants at some part across the state of Hawaii.
Well-maintained Infrastructure:
Hawaii, because of its famed tourism, keeps all the infrastructure in peak conditions. The roads and other basic infrastructures are very well maintained. Getting across the state is usually very easy because of an extensive network of roads connecting every remote part.
Public transport facilities are abundant as well. All of these make sure quick and easy travel routines. Hawaii is still developing in certain areas.
Crime Rates are Low:
The crime rates in Hawaii reflect the overall morale of the people of Hawaii. Extremely low crime rates and excellent safety make Hawaii one of the safest states. An island of that size cannot possibly facilitate hideouts for criminals. The proper infrastructure and opportunities also prompt a lesser number of people to take to unfair ways.
Close to Nature:
The scenic beauty of Hawaii is unparalleled. Hawaii doesn’t reflect the usual city scenes. Hawaii harbors tall trees instead of billboards and lush greens instead of lifeless buildings. Away from the hustle and bustle of a city, Hawaii is relaxing and literally offers to breathe fresh air every day.
Warm and Welcoming Culture:
Hawaii is like a mix pot of various cultures. The vast influx of tourists has a particularly important role to play in Hawaiian intermixing. People from various cultures have come and settled in this State.
The people of Hawaii have always been welcoming and therefore such intermixing of cultures could happen. The people here are not just tolerant but are also open about their cultures.
Unexplored Islands:
Hawaii has a lot of unexplored islands around it. One can go on little exploration trips around Hawaii. It is especially easy to make this trip on a boat. There are boat services for this purpose. People buy their own boats too.
Disadvantages of living in Hawaii:
Lava Flow:
The formation of the Islands of Hawaii is attributed to lava flows that rose above the water and solidified. Hawaii is characterized by active volcanoes and therefore Lava flowing is a repeating issue that the people here may face. Kailua-Kona area is the living witness of the issue in this state.
Too much rain:
Hawaii, as mentioned before, has 11 of the 13 sub-climates. Having a proper season of rain is characteristic of areas with a tropical climate. Although, there are areas that form a part of Hawaii that receive extremely heavy rainfall almost all year round. These places are especially difficult to dwell in. They exhibit a prolonged problem of fungus growth due to the damp weather.
High Cost of Living:
Hawaii is known to have a high cost of living. It is down to the popularity and consequently the influx of people in the area that has contributed to raised prices. Renting a building is often a costly affair even for the most basic of living places.
To make matters more difficult, necessities like gasoline and electricity have high prices too. Food essentials like bread will cost one somewhere around $7 while a gallon of milk will pinch the pocket for $10.
Lack of Water Supply:
Water Supply can be a problem when living in Hawaii. Water distribution infrastructure is absent on most of the Hawaiian Islands. Rainwater harvesting is often treated as the primary source of water for every home on these islands.
Kailua-Kona and Hilo are among the few cities to have invested in water supply infrastructure, but large parts of Hawaii are still dependent on rain for its water supply.
Improper Postal Service:
Postal services are not as competent as in rest of the places in America. Although the problem is not prevalent in all parts of the island, it is a problem that much of the state of Hawaii faces.
Trash Collection Problems:
Hawaii is traditionally rural in nature. That means there are no well-established waste management companies and therefore waste disposal may turn out to be an issue. The waste often must be hauled to the local waste-collecting centers.
Hawaii is an ideal destination to stay for the laid back and the stressed out. The natural scenery, warm people, and enthusiastic tourists keep this place alight. The people who want to get out of the concrete enclosures and want to stay close to nature may find Hawaii particularly enticing.
